Water Utility
Town of Lexington provides water utility to 125 local metered customers.
Current water utility rates:
First 10,000 gallons = $50.00
Multiply the excess gallons used by these amounts to calculate additional charges over the base rate:
Second 10,000 gallons x 0.00085
Third 10,000 gallons x 0.00105
Fourth 10,000 gallons x 0.00125
Fifth 10,000 gallons x 0.00140
Any excess amount after the amounts listed above = $19.00 per each 10,000 gallons
Our town well is located on B street near Penland Cemetery.

Current Events
Urgent Public Notice The well that supplies our water utility in the Town of Lexington is currently at critical alert level. The well is running at full capacity, yet the well production has slowed to about 50% currently. What does this mean? The supply cannot keep up with the demand. The Town of Lexington council is asking that water utility customers cut back on water usage as much as possible. What does this look like for our customers: Water your garden every other day, don't wash cars, don't fill up pools or partake in any other type of excessive water use. These actions will hopefully regulate the water levels over the course of the next few days. Please direct any questions or concerns to Town Hall by contacting Veronica Ferguson, Lexington Town Recorder. We thank you for your cooperation during this time.
Town of Lexington Burn Ban The Fire Chief of the Town of Lexington is imposing a closed season for the Town of Lexington for open burning effective Monday, July 1st, 2024, until further notice. The burn ban includes all burning barrels and open burning.
